This is definitely a tough call, when it comes to the career decision. Computer and programming is my life, I cannot live without it. But synthetic biology looks so fu*cking beautiful, funny and fantastic, it successfully convinced me that this will surely be an amazing industry in the future, just like the IT industry we had now. And believe me, somebody will get really rich. Until now this is just an area known by few folks but in less than 10 years, “synthetic biology” will be as popular as “clone”.
And the most important thing is, synthetic biology is a combination of computer science, engineering and molecular biology. It means no matter what kind of scientist, biologist, computer geeks, engineers, can find their own role in this new field.
Oh shit, I just want to dedicate myself into this area. Those presentations in the synthetic biology conference really did their job…

Good opportunity to win the great future for the exchange of sacrificing the hobby.Why not choose it?If you just wanna be a coder,please choose CS field.Because CS is such a narrow choice.Many companies just wanna a coding expert but the essential of CS—algorithms evolution is ignored.
A mature industry will be more inactive,Because Many thing is fixed as a custom.Impossible is nothing in the new techology field.I think if you grasp the chance,maybe you will become a standard in this field in future.Believe or not,it is a good chance to get a door with wealth.A word “I can only show you the door, you’re the one that has to walk through it.” Good Luck for you

Thank you! But shouldn’t we choose something we are interested in and good at as our career?
Another thing is, if one choose this career with the intend to be rich or famous in the beginning, he will be probably disappointed.
I think when you really get crazy about something and put yourself into it and you just keep on doing this shit because you love it indeed and you have lots fun with it, you will be successful eventually.
